The hazards: if the battery pack is not properly sealed, water could enter the battery pack enclosure, resulting in a battery malfunction. This could lead to the vehicle not starting, or a loss of propulsion while driving. A loss of propulsion while driving may increase the risk of a crash. At present, GM is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires related to this issue.

The fix: GM is currently working to develop a fix for this issue. The fix is not yet available, but when it is, GM will issue a recall bulletin and repairs will begin.

Affected components: high-voltage battery pack assembly.

Affected vehicles: 2022 BrightDrop Zevo 600, previously known as the BrightDrop EV600.

Number of affected vehicles: it is estimated that 89 examples of the 2022 BrightDrop Zevo 600 are affected by this recall. It’s also worth noting that the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is also affected by a similar recall (improper battery back sealing), as GM Authority covered previously.
